Date-of-Birth-Activity!!!

"i can tell your date of birth from calculator. all you do is simply to punch in some numbers, and then either to add or multiply them," you may say to your friend.

Ask him to punch in the calculator the day of the month on which he was born. He does not need to show you what he does. Then ask him to follow this steps.

1) multiply the number by 20

2) add 3

3) multiply by 5

4) add the number of the month he was born.

5) multiply by 20

6) add 3

7)multiply by 5

8)add the last two figure of the year in which he was born.

9) then pass the calculator to you.

This is what you would do. Do not show him how you arrive at the answer. on receiving the calculator, subtract 1515 from the number shown on the display.

Read from left to right for the day, month and year in which your friend was born. An example: your friend was born on the 16th May 1983.
16 x 20 = 320
320 + 3 = 323
323 x 5 = 1615
1615 + 5 = 1620 (add the month)
1620 x 20 = 32400
32400 + 3 = 32403
32403 x 5 = 162015
162015 + 83 =162098 (add last 2 digit of yr)
162098 - 1515 = 160583
From left to right, 16 is the day, 05 is the month and 83 is the year.
