Selina & her Three Dice . . .

Ask someone to throw three dice. Ask him to take note of the numbers on the dice. Tell him that you can guess the three numbers. Give him a calculator and ask him to carry out the following steps:

1)Multiply the number of one of the dice by 2
2)Add 5
3)Multiply by 5
4)Add the number from one of the other two dice
5)Multiply by 10
6)Add the third number of the dice
7)Pass the calculator to you On receiving the calculator, subtract 250 from the number in the display. The three numbers of the dice will appear!!

As an example, the three numbers on the dice are 5,1 and 4.
The steps are:
5 x 2 = 10
10 + 5 = 15
15 x 5 = 75
75 + 1 =76
76 x 10 = 760
760 + 4 =764
764 - 250 = 514

5, 1, 4 - aren't they the number on the dice?

Well, there's some Mathematics logic behind the trick! Perhaps you can think about it after your Mid Year Exams!

All the best for your exams.
As promised, i will liaise with the school TA to upload some practice questions here for your own extra practice! So stay tuned! But remember, do not spend too much time on reading blogs!

Best Wishes,
Miss Gina
